All up Womad’s Sound quality, organisation and stage set up is pretty much at the top of the heap for this summer’s music festivals. It is inspiring and refreshing to see the amount of respect and care shown to the grounds by patrons and organisers.

There’s a little bit for everyone in this show – from the classic jazz-club feel of the tables, to the switch from soul to blues to old school pop to the fine, fine sounds emanating from the talented musicians on stage, this is one show that can easily be enjoyed by a broader audience than seems. 3.5K

FRINGE: Spirit of Africa – Nexus – 3K

As will be unsurprising to anybody who is a fan of traditional African music – the upbeat rhythms and the inescapable enthusiasm of all the performers was absolutely infectious and totally thrilling. By the end of the show most of the room was on their feet, dancing frenziedly to the high energy act and clearly having the time of their lives. 3K
