Washington came onto the music scene in 2008, winning the Triple J unearthed competition and their popularity has increased steadily since then. Megan Washington is the lead singer and driving force behind the band, writing catchy pop-rock songs with clever lyrics and music lines that make you want to dance.
Having quickly sold out their Saturday night show, a second gig was added on Sunday and once again the tickets were snapped up by eager fans. This was an all-ages show and the majority of the audience were under 18 and happy to have the opportunity to take in some live music.
The band was relaxed as they kicked off the set with a few well known tracks from their debut album I Believe You Liar, including the hit single Clementine. Following this there was a change of pace with Megan doing a solo rendition of Underground. The audience showed just how much they love the music by singing along word perfectly; something which amazed and delighted her.
The popular album tracks kept coming, interspersed with several songs from their previous EPs and the occasional cover. In addition to contributing good musical support, the rest of the band also seemed to be engaged in a game of “who can make Megan laugh the most”, leading to several giggle breaks. The overall feeling of the evening was one of fun, with both the band and the audience having a great time.
