SALA – What’s Your Crutch? – Kat Coppock & Fiona Gardner – The Reading Room

This is certainly ambitious, especially on a weekly basis, but the personal dynamics between the two artists, Kat Coppock and Fiona Gardner, certainly comes through.

A Lion In The Night – Patch – Odeon – Til Sat 18th

For those who get to this show early enough and are seated in the front rows, the beauty and wonder of Theo and Angelie’s world will captivate and be most agreeable. Highlight scenes are the Royal Soup, the Royal Tea and Many Sounds.

Biddies – Her Majesty’s – 3K

All the cast breath great life and energy into their roles and Biddies sustains itself on the high side of enjoyable over laboured but as a ‘cape diem’ piece, Dead Poets Society this is not.

THEATRE: The Gondoliers – G&S Society of SA – Arts Theatre

Those more acquainted with the shows of Gilbert and Sullivan and the productions of the G&S Society will no doubt love the cheeky humour of the cameo appearances throughout and enjoy the chance to reminisce. While the production didn’t quite reach the heights it may have, it was still a very enjoyable show and a wonderful way to celebrate the anniversary of this beloved member of the local musical theatre scene.

Love Child – Higher Ground – 4.5K

Early Worx’s Love Child should have no problems putting our local theatre on the international map. 4.5K

Fat Pig – Bakehouse – 4K

Excellent fun and nobody of any age who has been in an office environment will miss recognising all the characters. 4K

THEATRE: Pinocchio – Windmill & STCSA – Dunstan Playhouse – 3.5K

This is a show that will engage younger audiences, particularly families, and is a great opportunity to get children seeing theatre (especially in the school holidays). Whether it will be a hit with the older crowds though is questionable. While still enjoyable from an adult perspective, it doesn’t quite tick all the boxes you might hope. 3.5K

War Mother – Space Til 2 June – 3K

Without being a memorable affair, War Mother is a nice vignette from the STC while the main program gets a break for the Cabaret Festival dealing with a recurring theme in a useful and politically not too opinionated way. 3K
