FRINGE – The Ballad of the Unbeatable Hearts – CIT – Higher Ground – 4.5K

Whilst this revewer generally eschews the use of the word ‘important’ when attached to theatre or movies, the Ballad of the Unbeatable Hearts is one exception worth making. 4.5K

FRINGE – Ladies In Waiting – Higher Ground – 4.5K

This piece is definitely a hit, with anyone who has a mother, sister, friend or lover able to very much relate to many of these thoughts that run through these ladies’ minds. 4.5K

FRINGE: The Half – Theatre – Higher Ground – 4K

It is a fine balance to create a character that is necessarily a little over the top, but realistic enough to be hilarious, however Guy Masterson manages to do so. Thespians and theatre novices alike will find a lot to enjoy in The Half. 4K

FRINGE: Drowning in Veronica Lake – Theatre – Holden Street Theatres – 4K

This is a very interesting look at the life of Veronica Lake and gives insight into the woman behind the Hollywood pin-up. It will have definite appeal for any fans of the late actress but is also an engaging and quality piece of theatre in its own right. 4K

FESTIVAL OF ARTS – Raoul – Fest Theatre – 4K

Raoul is a show made up of many individual elements. A stunning visual dance contribution, an invitation to a surreal fantasyland, a circus performance with clowns, a soliloquy on the nature of man… all of these things, and much, much more are brought to you in this unique performance. 4K

FESTIVAL OF ARTS – The Ham Funeral – Odeon – 4.5K

Staging The Ham Funeral can be rightly regarded as a risk production, hence totally suited for the Adelaide Festival but despite the mysteries of the meaning of it all, no theatre goer should be deterred by that potemtial from attending for The Ham Funeral is great entertainment, superbly presented and dominated by Bruce in a stand out performance. 4.5K

FRINGE – Shakespeare’s Queens: She-wolves and serpents – 2K

The actors did make you feel a part of it all, although without the highs and lows, this piece of theatre became much all the same. Just re-living one drama after another. 2K

Telia Nevile is here to get the message out there that poetry is great, words are beautiful, and you don’t have to be a drug addled, depressed, child of divorced alcoholic parents to make quality art. 4.5K

FRINGE – Bird Calls – Paper String Plastic – 4K

Bird Calls plays at Paper String Plastic until March 16 and is a beautiful and unique collection of music and theatre not to be missed.
