Adel Guitar Festival – The Punch Brothers – 4K

Interactions between band members are a highlight, members turning deferentially to watch the man in the periodic spot light of a solo but then also at times engaging in pairs in either rhythmical partnering or feverish dueling of their instruments. RAW: AI Guitar Festival Calls For Entries For Comp

After its tremendous success in 2010 the International Classical Guitar Competition returns and is open for applications from 2 January, 2012. Emerging players compete for a share of total prizes to the value of $31,000, making it one of the most prestigious guitar competitions in the world.

RAW: Guitar Festival – Sunday En Masse – 3.5K

There were some disappointing aspects to the show – the transitions between duos were often delayed or awkward and it would have been nice to see more songs involving larger numbers of performers at once – but this was a unique opportunity to see some interesting combinations of artists in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the talent of those involved cannot be questioned. 3.5K

RAW: Guitar Festival – Musica Latina – 4K

‘Musica Latina’ was a double bill, with Manuel Barrueco and Yamandu Costa each playing a one hour set with an interval in between. Where Barrueco presented a restrained recital of traditional pieces, Costa burst onto the stage with enthusiasm and produced an animated showcase of original compositions. This was a rare opportunity to experience the talents of these two men and, while some audience members may have preferred one half or the other, the overall experience was enjoyable and enlightening. 4K
