Awesome Tapes From Africa:
Blogger turned DJ and label owner Brian Shimkovitz sheds light on the obscure and wonderful sounds from across the African continent. The Awesome Tapes From Africa DJ set blends folkloric pop, left-field dance floor gems and hip-hop bangers, celebrating the music and musicians whose cassettes Shimkovitz has collected over the years. After 75 shows on three continents in the past couple of years, the project shows no sign of slowing down.

DJ Harvey:
Get your hips into gear as near-mythical godfather of disco and pioneer of Balearic sound DJ Harvey (USA/UK) kicks off party season at Lola’s Pergola with his legendary mix of disco/garage/house tracks. Fresh from Coachella and Rolling Stone’s ‘Top 25 DJs That Rule the Earth’ list, it’s not an A-List party if the libertine Englishman isn’t on the decks.

Recloose:
After being signed to Carl Craig’s Planet E record label based solely on his now legendary Demo on Rye Sandwich, Matthew Chicoine, aka Recloose has gone from strength to strength. The eclectic DJ’s musical roots trace back to eight years of studying music and playing jazz saxophone, later shifting his focus to the art of mixing, cutting and dicing vinyl whilst at college. The Detroit native moved to New Zealand in 2001 and since then has released a number of ambitious albums on the labels Rush Hour and Delusions of Grandeur.

Frank Booker:
DJ and producer Frank Booker emerged in 2009 to be signed immediately to boutique London record label, Untracked Recordings. Since then he has risen to popularity worldwide. As a DJ, Frank’s music spans a wide array of quality dance music: from deepest disco, to 80’s boogie and quality modern house, as well as some super special re-edits all put together with a focus firmly on the dancers. Booker also co-hosts the highly acclaimed New Zealand’s Hit It & Quit It radio show alongside Recloose.

Joe Claussell:
Joaquin “Joe” Claussell has long been one of New York City’s busiest dance figures, thanks to his work in all areas of the house community: as a highly respected DJ, producer, remixer, label-head (Spiritual Life Music and Ibadan), and record-shop owner (Dance Tracks). A veteran of the disco era, Claussell’s style is a vibrant and eclectic mix including acoustic instruments and rich percussion patterns.

Moritz von Oswald:
Moritz von Oswald is one of the most influential figures in modern electronic music, known for helping define minimal and dub techno. Since the late eighties, von Oswald has explored and defined his own personal style of minimal techno, co-founded record labels Basic Channel and Maurizio, and been an inspiration for many artists, including Richie Hawtin, Thomas Brinkmann, and Robert Henke (aka Monolake). His most recent releases are with the Moritz von Oswald Trio, featuring Tony Allen, with Emptyset and Gardland, which will play Saturday night’s Unsound set at the Adelaide Festival in the Queen’s Theatre.

Slow Magic:
Slow Magic is a post-rocktronica artist whose biography reads only ‘your imaginary best friend’. Since his inception, he has maintained an air of mystery not releasing much more that his music online and wearing a disguise onstage. The enigmatic masked artist brings dreamy electronic soundscapes together with on-stage drums, weaving pure enchantment through the audience and casting hypnotic, hip-swinging spells.

Total Eclipse:
Brooklyn’s party starter DJ Total Eclipse is one of the most diverse and talented turntablists.
An original member of New York City’s legendary elite DJ collective, the X-men, X-Ecutioners and ILL INSANITY, he works constantly to take his craft to the next level by mastering entertaining club sets and collaborations alongside Organized Confusion, Beatnuts, Cormega, Jay-z, and Miri Ben Ari to name a few.

Vadim:
With a career spanning nearly 20 years, DJ Vadim is a well respected innovator and producer, whose diverse musical repertoire encompasses hip hop, soul, funk, grime, reggae, dub and bass. With over 2500 performances under his belt, the veteran DJ has performed with the likes of DJ Krush, Company Flow, The Roots, Pharcyde, Public Enemy, Beat Junkies, Dilated Peoples, Kraftwerk, Ed Rush, Morcheeba and Paul Weller, as well as Glastonbury and the Moscow Street Ball festivals.
