CABARET: Tex Perkins & the Dark Horses – Space Theatre – 4K

As a band, the group offered everything you could want from a set: great songs, played well and with pizzazz. However, the place of this show in the Cabaret Festival is somewhat confusing. 4K

This is guaranteed to be different to anything else on offer during the Cabaret Festival – and kudos should go to the programmers for having the vision to include it in the line-up. The Suitcase Royale once again present an enchanting evening of eccentric entertainment. 4K

CABARET: Clare Bowditch – Space Theatre, Festival Centre – 4K

Bowditch gave a performance which was engaging, cheeky, a bit sultry and very natural. The closing song You Make Me Happy, pretty much summed up the show, with audience members leaving with massive smiles on their faces and a positive buzz to take them into the rest of the evening. 4K

FESTIVAL OF ARTS: School Dance- Theatre – 4K

It is a brave aim to produce a play aimed at teenagers but this production should attract any child of the 80s or fan of comedy theatre. A real treat for Festival goers who have ever or are currently living the teenage experience. 4K

RAW: OzAsia – continent by CAVA – Space Theatre

This years OzAsia Festival sure has had some special treats lined up such as this brilliant performance “continent” by the Japanese mime company CAVA. RAW: OzAsia Festival – Shugo Tokumaru – Space Theatre – 4K

“Quirky pop” is probably the closest you’ll get to summarising the sound of Shugo Tokumaru. We heard pieces akin to mamba, 60s Brit-pop, 80s love ballads, and even a good ol’ country hoe-down. The crown went away invigorated and impressed. 4K
