RAW: Red Bastard @ Umbrella Revolution (GoUD)
Most times when you leave a show you know what the show was about and you pretty much have an idea what you would tell your friends about it. This however is not the case with Red Bastard. Is this the point, that you are left wondering, wondering was that supposed to make sense or did this really just happen? I wouldn’t describe it a show without a story line, the story is the Red Bastard, and a bastard he is. The audience was raised to some laughter, some a little strained.
At times the Red Bastard managed to bring the energy level extremely high. And some attempts of audience interaction are made however it still all revolves around the Red Bastard. At the end of though you do wonder, what did I just see? I was entertained but was there a point to it all?

RAW: ADT’s Ignition Til 21st August

Put simply, this is phenomenal. You couldn’t ask for more from a theme which encourages the choreographers to go beyond rhythmic movement and consider every act – whether as simple as walking and talking – a form of dance. 4K
RAW: SALA – Exhibition of Happiness – Kirsty Shadiac – Tin Cat Cafe – 4.5K

Clearly one of the most successful exhibitions at this year’s SALA is that of returned local girl, Kirsty Shadiac and her most engaging images of children sharing moments of pleasure. 4.5K

All in all, it’s a terribly dull film that plods along with lingering gazes, conversations and scenery, and garners the rather dubious title of the dullest opening ten minutes in film. 2K

RAW: SALA – Bill Botten’s Abstract Paintings – The Maid – 4K

Since first exhibiting five years ago, Bill Botten’s work continues to develop with particular emphasis on single subjects or styles within his genre of artworks with that reflective mood. 4K
RAW: SALA – X-HIBIT By Simon Klobas – Gallery on Waymouth
about 2 years ago - No comments
Simon Klobas is the force behind this initiative to have some of Adelaide’s young and upcoming artists exhibit before their peers in a relaxed club atmosphere – to enjoy art in an opening night spirit but without the art nobs. His first night certainly suggested the idea has legs.
RAW: SALA – Sudhira Shah – SSStudio – Rundle St, Kent Town – 4K

Sudhira Shah brings a life and enjoyment to her finished works that leap from the paper, images of spontaneity that make you want to be like those featured. 4K
RAW: Romeo & Juliet – Playhouse – Till 29th Aug – 4K
about 2 years ago - No comments
The State Theatre Company has put together an interesting, intelligent and thoroughly entertaining modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet that follows its own path and much independence as a result. A lot of people would feel less inclined to see this famous play if they’ve seen it (or even one of the film versions) before, but they’ve created something unique in itself and definitely worth experiencing. 4K
RAW: SALA – Our Mob – Artspace / Fest Theatre – Till 5 Sept – 4K

There are at least two stand-out feature works that certainly warrant the time to visit. Major Sumner’s Tree Canoe sits in the midst of the works resting on sand on the floor. Beaver Lennon’s Break of Dawn (attached above) is notable as the winner of the Inaugural SA Indigenous Acquisitive Art Award. 4K
RAW: Splice – 2K

If you are after a primer on the challenges of raising children then other films do a lot better. If you are interested in the clash of ethics between the scientific, commercial and domestic worlds, then this offers zero insights. If you love Frankenstein style Sci Fi flicks and can suspend reality for 2 hours, Splice may be a film for you. 2K
