While laced with moments that are harsh, sweet, funny, cruel, dark and light, Innocence is probably best enjoyed by committed theatregoers who will respond with enthusiasm to the play and the players’ performances.
The script, from Alan Ball, includes some amusing ideas, conveyed in a clever, subversive manner – as is his way. This was a production with some good features but the execution still left something to be desired. 3K
Accidental Productions working of it is terrific entertainment, wonderfully acted and well directed by Hew Parham who not only gets his five players comfortable in the world of the absurd but works the severe limitations of the Studio Theatre at the Bakehouse superbly. 4K
