Last Friday evening was kind of an ‘Adam Page Appreciation Night’ with the man doing a solo show at 6.30pm and then joining Ross Mchenry and the rest of the Shaolin Afronauts at 9.30pm for what proved to be a rollicking good night of very modern music.

Ben Todd’s album launch at The Wheatsheaf last week underscored what a talented musician this young man is. The music itself is groove jazz, the tunes eminently listenable with Ben’s drums always and superbly driving away in the background. The titles of many of pieces, as well as some of the music itself, reflect the influence and benefit of his time away in Japan. 4K
