Theatre – Into the Woods – Northern Light Theatre Company – Until October 27th

A superb ensemble of actors has been gathered by director Karen Sheldon, and under her guidance they meet the demands of the vocals admirably, and also shine in their comedic abilities. This is a long show, pushing three hours, but in the hands of this professional cast and crew, the pace remains constant, the performances are engaging and the time flies.

The Mousetrap – Playhouse – 3.5K

Given times have greatly changed since Christie wrote these stories, particularly the constant fare of the same genre each night on TV, The Mousetrap is all a bit ho-hum but if it exists for you on some ‘must do before I die’ list, then this is no better time to see and enjoy it. 3.5K

Blasted – Space – 3K

If you found Ermin’s Bed just the most exciting thing you have seen or heard about, then Blasted is for you. If not, this is a long 90 minutes in a world without redemption. 3K

The Laramie Project – Ten Years Later – Higher Ground – 4.5K

We talk a lot of what good things there are in our local theatre but struggle to sometimes locate it. This, ladies and gentlemen, is it – our best on and off stage performers of the next generation are all here at Higher Ground til Oct 14th. Don’t say you weren’t told – 4.5K

The Laramie Project – Ten Years Later – 4 – 14 Oct – Higher Ground

Going beneath the surface facts of the murder and its aftermath ‘Ten Years Later’ asks if and how we, as individuals and as societies, progress in the wake of brutality. The conclusions will shock you, touch you, and perhaps inspire you to change yourself.

THEATRE: Top Girls – State Theatre Company of SA – Dunstan Playhouse – 3K

While there are several things to like about this production – the opportunity to see seven highly talented women on stage at once being one – there are also too many flaws to allow it to be entirely enjoyable. 3K
